Last week N331J was hit hard by hail and has extensive damage. The repair scheme involves replacing the upper wing skins, horizontal stabilizer skins, radome, flight controls and new paint. The labor quote alone is in excess of 3,500 man-hours. To put this in perspective, it took approximately 9,000 man-hours to manufacture the plane new!
We are now in the process of determining where to have the repairs done and the extent of the downtime. We will keep you informed as information becomes available. If the downtime exceeds 12-16 weeks, as it very well may, we will come up with an interim lift solution. In the meantime we would greatly appreciate as much notice as possible for upcoming flights.
